Digital design has evolved from the information revolution as a way of communicating ideas in a variety of mediums. Much of my design work has attempted to reconcile abstract ideas with both graphic and physical constructs. Within this context, I am particularly concerned with performance. Digital tools, such as digital and parametric modeling and CNC tools, change the way we consider the construction of space and design. New constraints in sustainability and performance force the designer to engage the manufacturing process as well as the design process to enrich projects with new ideas about what makes good design. In my research, design work and teaching projects, I have attempted to engage new ways for individuals to connect to a more experiential architectures and products at all scales.
